Ethel I. Beatty
Ethel I. Beatty, 89, of Eau Claire died Friday evening at her home after an illness.
Born in Deegan, July 20, 1916, she was the daughter of George and Sophie Vargo Solomon.
She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire, where she was a member of the administrative board for years. She also served as church treasurer for more than 10 years.
Mrs. Beatty had worked for the Glenn Lewis Studio in Knox and for the Russell Bennett Studio in Butler for years. She later worked in the Butler County Assessment Office for 13 years, retiring in 1981.
She was an avid bowler and a member of the Eau Claire Card Club for years.
Surviving are a son, former Butler resident John O. Beatty Sr. and his wife, Patricia, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Pamela Moore and her husband, Harold Glenn, of Hilliards, Stacy Gamble and her husband, Richard, of Chicora and John O. Beatty Jr. of Butler; two step-grandchildren, Tracy Isaacs and her husband, Robert "J.R.," and Tammy Bole, all of Butler; four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
A brother, Martin "Sonny" Solomon and his wife, Shirley, of Honesdale, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Her husband, Denton O Beatty, whom she married Sept. 4, 1937, died Oct 8, 1987. A granddaughter, Terri Beatty; four sisters; and five brothers also preceded her in death.
BEATTY - Friends of Ethel I. Beatty, who died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Route 38, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire with the Rev. Kathleen Soltis officiating. Burial will be at Eau Claire Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Hospice, Visiting Nurses Association, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.
