Anne Wivel Buck Longtime Wyndmoor Resident, 77 Anne Wivel Buck died Wednesday, February 29, in her home surrounded by her children. Mrs. Buck was the loving mother of six children, Tricia Horter (Charles) of Chestnut Hill, Richard (Sarah) of Manchester, MA, Steven (Nancy) of Chester Springs, David (Nancy) of Broad Axe, Lesley (Dawn) of Mount Airy, and Karin Zamborsky (Joe) of Ambler and grandmother to eighteen. She was the sister of W. Burns Wivel (Peggy) of Grasonville, MD. She was married to Richard E. Buck, who predeceased her in 2009. Mrs. Buck grew up in Ridley Park. She was a 1953 graduate of Ridley Park High School, and in 1957 graduated with a degree in English and American Literature from Pembroke College of Brown University in Providence, RI. She spent the summers of her youth with her family in Beach Haven, NJ working at restaurants and sailing with the Spray Beach Yacht Club. After starting her family in the Abington area, Mrs. Buck and her husband and children moved to Wyndmoor where she lived for more than 40 years. The primary focus of her life was providing a loving home in which she raised and cared for her children. She also maintained lifelong friendships from Abington, Brown, Beach Haven, Ridley Park and kindergarten, as well as befriending and welcoming those in need. Mrs. Buck's home was the central meeting location for family events and holiday gatherings throughout her lifetime, and nothing brought her more joy than a houseful of family and guests to share a meal and some time together. Mrs. Buck was always active in her children's schools, serving as a PTA officer and member for many years. She also worked part-time in real estate and accounting for several different local businesses. Mrs. Buck also contributed her time by volunteering for a variety of local organizations. She was a Chairwoman of the June Fete, a benefit for Abington Hospital, and a Chairwoman for the American Heart Association's annual Chestnut Hill Fundraiser. She also spent many years volunteering at two local historical sites: Cliveden in Germantown and The Highlands in Ft. Washington. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on March 10 at Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club, 511 Dreshertown Rd, Ft. Washington with a reception to follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifeChoice Hospice (LifeChoice Hospice Nurses Benevolent Fund in memory of Anne Buck, 200 Dryden Rd, Ste 3300, Dresher, PA 19025) or the Wind River Cancer Wellness Retreats & Programs (430 Larsen Lane, Tryon, NC 28782 www.windriverservices.org )

Dear Children of Ann and Dick: I just wanted to let you know that she was a great gentle lady. I was in her class at high school, class of 53. I remember for one of our senior class trips, we went to her place at the shore, a bunch of giggly girls chapperoned by her parents to keep the boys away. We also knew your dad, had dinner with them a few times. Our prayers are with you and your children. Carol Preble Krieg and Jack Krieg
