Clarence Douglas Copeland, 69, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax.
He was born July 27, 1942, in Wythe County, to Herbert Cecil and Frances Annalee Simmons Copeland.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Vera Moore Copeland.
Survivors include his children, Tina and Don Clontz of Fries, Katy Copeland and fiancé, Joey Tate of Ararat and Charles Copeland and Tammy of Galax; mother, Annalee Copeland of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; sister, Darlene Shupeing of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; brother, Don Copeland of Hopewell; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Emily Rutherford and Stacey Key.
A funeral was held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Mount Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Adams and the Rev. Matt Linkous officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
