Mary T. Montonaro, 98, of Carbondale, died Monday morning at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was the wife of the late Anthony Montonaro, who died on June 5, 1989.
Born May 19, 1914, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Concetta Parise Scalise. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, and its Altar and Rosary Society.
The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Moro for the many years of compassionate care he provided Mary.
She is survived by a daughter, Delores Gullone, Carbondale; a son, Louis A. Montonaro, Carbondale; five grandchildren, Denise Marco, Pine Bush, N.Y.; Philip Gullone, Kingsley; Renee Burko, Scott Twp.; Michele Burke, Carbondale; and Michael Montonaro, Florida; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Julia Molinaro, Rachael Neutts, Beatrice Scalise and Adeline Greco; and two brothers, Carmine and Peter Scalise.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Farview and 41st streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook St., Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
