DONALD B. BLEVINS 11/30/1932 - 10/19/2012 Don was born Nov. 30, 1932 to Thelma (Stoots) and Dean Blevins in Damascus, Virginia. He graduated from Damascus (VA) High School and from Mars Hill College in North Carolina. He married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn J. Upchurch, in 1952 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953. Air Force assignments took him and his family to Illinois, Florida, Germany, California and North Dakota. He retired from the Air Force in 1979 as a Chief Master Sergeant while stationed at March AFB. He was a missile systems guidance and control analyst at TRW from 1980 - 1992. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn of Moreno Valley; his daughter Donna of Riverside; son Tim (Mary) of Riverside; grandchildren Mollie, Brett, Leslie and Emily; extended family and many wonderful friends. Don was a loving husband, a wonderful dad and the best of grandfathers. He was, above all else, the "Poppa". He was always generous with his help and support, especially to his kids and grandkids, who were the light of his life. He was a man of integrity and admirable loyalty. His Virginia roots stayed with him throughout his life and we all enjoyed his southern ways and dry country humor. He believed that there was the Blevins' way to do things and then there was the wrong way. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports, feeding the birds each day and running around town in his red truck - doing whatever was needed to take care of his family. He loved being on the golf course with his buddies and working around the house with Evie. His passing leaves a huge hole that only time and reflection will begin to fill. A celebration of life for family and friends is to be held in the future. No formal services are planned. Donations in his name can be made to the Heart Care Institute at Riverside Community Hospital. The family wishes to thank all our extended family, our wonderful friends and clients for their expressions of concern and compassion. You have brought us great comfort during this very sad time.

Too soon gone from us. Friends for many years even though distance kept us apart but always think of my friend, Evelyn, since our infancy days. And because Don loved you, he was a dear friend, too. Always the gracious Southern gentleman. May God's grace heal the grieving heart that I know you have.

Evelyn and family!! My heart breaks for you!! Wish I could give you a big hug. Don was such a big part of my growing up years. Tho' he was a little older, I was his little sis, and we spent many happy hours together. He never put me off because I was a little girl, he always paid attention to me and we played football. LOL I loved him as a brother and will miss him as I still do his wonderful parents.

Sincere sympathy to Evelyn and entire family in the passing of Don. I remember him as a handsome friendly young man from so long ago. Distance may prove to hinder the closeness that we knew as youngsters but it does not dim the love we had for our friends and you have indeed been missed thru the years. I am sure Don was a much loved Husband and Father. I love you and if you ever need me or want to talk I am just Betty J. Camper Stamper. Mohawk04@

Evelyn and family,
The memories of both of you will be with me always. Although time and distance separated us I never forgot the good times. Dean, Thelma and Don were a part of our family for all the early years of my life. Hugs and peace be with you in this hardest of times.
Love to you and your family. Helen and J.W. Clark
