Captain A. M. "Jack" McCarson

Greenville

Captain A. M. "Jack" McCarson, 89, of Greenville, husband of Pauline Smith McCarson, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Tavie Jacob and Rosa Lee McCarson.

Captain McCarson, USA, Ret., served for over 20 years and was a combat veteran of WWII. He was assigned to numerous infantry regiments. Jack retired from Met Life Insurance after 20 years of service. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was a Mason.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 68 years, are a daughter, Becky Holloway of Greenville; four sons, Michael J. McCarson of Chapin, Roddy P. McCarson of Gilbert, Daryl K. McCarson, and Timothy M. McCarson both of Greenville; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Cherrix of Hendersonville, NC.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris McCarson; a sister, Doris Stapleton; and three brothers, Roy M. McCarson, KIA, WWII, 101st Airborne, Jay A. McCarson, US Navy, and Sgt. Kenneth E. McCarson, 82nd Airborne.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
