Eleanor Crikelair Obituary

Crikelair, Eleanor Parkhurst , 90, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Riparius, New York, passed away on November 14, 2012. Eleanor was born on September 15, 1922 in Ridgewood, NJ, daughter of John Parkhurst Hoesli and Dorothy (Willyoung) Hoesli. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison and then married Dr. George F. Crikelair in 1944. They settled in Glen Rock, NJ and later Ridgewood, NJ, raising seven children. Eleanor and George retired to Ft. Lauderdale and were married for 60 years. Eleanor?s family and her Christian faith were central components of her life. She was active in the community and always enjoyed learning. After raising her children, she earned a second degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She was predeceased by her eldest son John, killed in action in Vietnam in 1969, and by her husband George in 2005. She is survived by six children, David (Carol), Tom (Kirsten Stockman), Carol Crikelair Wood, Amy (Barb Rice), Paul (Janet) and Mary Crikelair Smith (Ron), 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The last years of her life were greatly enhanced and enriched by the loving care of her daughter Carol and granddaughter Sarah. The family is grateful for this gift of love and support.
