Dr. Colvin was our family doc after moving to Newburgh from TH in '64...good thing he never knew about our ties to TH Garfield, which upset Bosse's attempt to repeat as IHSAA Champs in '63! My bros bought one of Doc's Harley's...still in pieces scattered on his garage floor since late 70's! Wonderful General Practitioner...knew people and understood COMMUNITY. God Bless.

I remember when Dr. Colvin drove his daughter, Bev, myself - Karen (Thurgood) Miller, Shirley (Hendershot) Klaus and Carol (Stallings) Stephens home from Kramer's Lake. A tire blew out when he was taking four sunburned girls home. He commented 'Girls, be quiet and get out of the car. These things happen.' As he sweated changing the tire we just watched him work. I also find it ironic how he and my Dad (Chuck Thurgood-Pharmacist) were such good friends in High School and throughout their lives; and then Bev and I also became best friends.

I remember Dr. Colvin as a warm and wonderful man. I knew him in "my younger" years, Beverly his daughter was my best friend when I lived in Evansville. We were teenagers! My fondest memories are these. He flew his private plane up to Illinois and picked me up for a 2 week visit after I had moved away and flew me back home again. This was the one and only time i was ever in a private plane. I remember him telling me to keep my eye out for other planes, I did not relax the whole ride...just kept looking for planes, sure did not want to "bump"into one! It was a memorable ride and visit. During that visit he also tried to teach me the game of chess. Lets put it this way, he was a very patient man!
My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies go out to you
Bev. Love to you!

Dad was an exceptional, but humble man. I worked in his office from ages 13-18 which gave me great experience for my later entry into the working world on my own.
He was loving, generous, caring, and kind, with intelligence and foresight that was mind-boggling. I could listen to his stories over and over again.
He and Mom both set wonderful examples for their children: Bev, Tom, Tim and Jim.
My friends used to tease me some because when I spoke about him, I tended to put him up on a pedestal. They could tell that I was very proud of my Father.
The love my parents had for each other never wavered; their bond was solid and secure. They were married for 57 years when Mom died at age 75 on 12/27/2007. That was the most tragic day of my life.
I am numb from losing Dad, but the grief has been easier to bear with all the kind thoughts, prayers, and sympathy from my family, friends, neighbors and past co-workers.
He loved and was loved. He had a full and happy life with varied interests and cherished each day.
I believe that Dad is now reunited with Mom and that they can start this new phase of their existence together in Heaven, free from pain and worry.
...his loving daugher, Bev.

Dr Colvin was our family Dr for many years. As a child I remember his big booming voice ( rather scared me at first) but he was so gentle and kind. I loved his nurse as well. My heartfelt sympathies to the family. Keep his memories close to your heart. I will always remember him as a kind and intelligent Dr.

I remember well Dr. Colvin's frequent and sometimes controversial letters to the editors of the Courier and the Press when I was a child and teen in Evansville. He was truly devoted to the civic well-being of the city and provided a much needed voice for the things he believed in. I was so excited to meet him (a friend of mine lived next door) -- a charming man with a sense of humor and a great and obvious love of life. My condolences to his family and his many, many friends.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Colvin family. Though I know this is a time of sadness, I find myself instead thinking of all the memories I had with Dr. Colvin. I was born in 1979, and with my disability, was a frequent patient of his until his retirement in the late 1990's. He was always warm and caring -- a great model of what a doctor should be. And I will never forget the wise words he wrote to me and my (then) soon-to-be-wife just before our wedding; that card holds a special place in my heart.

I think everyone should be so lucky as to be cared for by a doctor of Robert Colvin's caliber.

My condolences to Bob's family. We were classmates at Bosse and ran sports cars together in our 30s when we were both members of the Evansville Chapter of Sports Car Club of America. I our later years, we managed to stay in touch at our annual class mini-reunions. He has, during all that time, had my continuing respect and admiration for the way he conducted his life. His family can surely be proud of him. He saw life fully and lived it well.

We are so sorry to hear of his passing. io always enjoyed listening to his stories. I played music with him as a member of Southern Hollow and every time I pass by the aviation club I think of him.

Remembering when we went to Dr. Colvin's office. There were no appointments, you just sat down and waited until the people ahead of you left. Everyone would cringe when the back door opened--we knew it was an emergency, usually someone working on a barge--yes, the wait was going to be a little longer. When you were in his office, he gave you his undivided attention and was truly interested in you as a person. He truly was a wonderful diagnostician-maybe because he did take the time to listen. After my father died in1999, my mother and I ran into Bobby and Susie at Libs. He looked in my basket and saw that I had Sugar Plums. He said we were probably the only two people in the area that liked them. We always tried to send them to him after that-just to let him know we were thinking of him. He was a very special physician and person. It was truly an honor to have him be in our lives.

So very sorry for the loss of Dr. Colvin. He was my doctor from birth (1968) to 1990 when I got married. Never was scared to go to the doctor because he was such a nice man and loved the little rocker and highlights magazines in his office waiting room. He will be truly missed. Praying for comfort for the Colvin family.

Bob was one of the most wonderful and brilliant men I have ever known. We grew up next door, the Colvins were my parents best lifetime friends. After they died, Bob became my friend as well. He brought joy to every aspect of life and I will miss everything I knew of him. I feel incredible sadness at this loss and incredible love for having known him later in life. Tom, Bev, Tim, and Jim....my heart goes out to each of you.
