Pauline Kilgore Obituary

With sadness, the family of Pauline Kilgore grieve her passing but rejoice in her life. They have assurance of her love for them and that, too, of her Heavenly Father for both them and her. Born in Haralson County, Ga., on July 24, 1917, Pauline Elizabeth Davenport Kilgore departed this earth on Nov. 28, 2012.
She and her beloved husband of over 45 years, Leo, moved to the Gadsden area in the early 1940s. A member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Attalla, they touched many in their over 100 years of combined service there.
Primarily a homemaker, she worked periodically in retail sales at various Attalla and Gadsden establishments, before "retiring" to over 30 years of volunteer status at the Carnes Senior Citizen Center in Attalla
She loved her immediate and extended families, consisting of surviving daughter, Janice Nabors of Southside; and son, Jimmy "Jim" of Rosa. She was preceded in death by Leo; and two daughters, infant Susan Denise and Linda (Mrs. J.V.) Williams. Seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Nabors, Jenifer Beavers, Donna (Jeff) Noah, Jana (Robin) Roberts, Allison (Johnny) Crawford, Dena (Allen) Harper and Richard (Amy) Williams; 15 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Blake, Brickelle, Camden, Carly, Elizabeth, Gracie, Jackson, Jameson, Jordan, Julie, Kadison, Luke, Ruth, and Sam; four siblings, Judy Cunningham, Julius Davenport, Janette Laminack and Cathryn Pope; five sisters-in-law, Gara Ayscue, Frankie Burkes, Avis Kilgore, Lucille McElroy and Norma Morgan; and untold numbers of nieces, nephews, and their descendants also survive. She held special affection for considered daughter and son, Beverly Ellis and Benjamin Roland, and one-time pastor and more recent special friend, Charles O. Dinkins.
The family wishes to express appreciation to those caregivers and sitters dedicated to Mrs. Kilgore's well-being in her nearly two-year stay at Gadsden Health and Rehab.
Reverends Larry Garrard and Charles Dinkins will conduct the final services from Mrs. Kilgore's home church at 1 p.m. today. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and provide music along with a sacred harp trio. Morgan Funeral Chapel of Attalla in charge.
The family will accept flowers; donations may be made to Cherry Street Baptist Church or one's favorite charity.

Janice and Jimmy:
On behalf of the John Thomas Rector family, I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Pauline's passing. She was a gracious lady and I have fond memories of serving with her when she was an active choir member at Cherry Street. We pray for God's comfort, peace, and grace to sustain you all now, and in the days ahead!
