Lillie Dickerson Obituary

Lillie I. Dickerson, 99, formerly of 527 Broadway, Quincy, died Wednesday (Jan. 2, 2013), at the Red Banks Nursing Home in Henderson, Ky.

Lillie was born April 16, 1913, in Ravanna, Mo., the daughter of William Fields and Laura Brassfield Fields.

She married Norris Collings on Dec. 22, 1931, in Princeton, Mo. On Aug. 24, 1953, she married Floyd C. Dickerson in Quincy. He died Oct. 13, 1968.

Mrs. Dickerson was the manager of the telephone company in Ravanna for 10 years. She was manager of the Women's City Club and retired in 1975 after 15 years. She was a volunteer and part time employee of the Quincy Area for Aging for 4 1/2 years. In 1984, Lillie retired from Blessing Hospital Tea Room.

Mrs. Dickerson was a member of Central Baptist Church, a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, a member of the Quincy Association for the Blind and had also volunteered in the Girl Scout office.

Survivors include a son, Ronald L. Collings and his wife, Alice, of Henderson; two stepsons, Floyd Dickerson and his wife, Linda, of Independence, Mo., and Robert Dickerson of Shell Knob, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Ilene Griffith and her husband, Powell, of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Craig Collings and his wife, Erika, of Henderson, and Amber Denton and her husband, Chris, of Henderson; three stepgrandchildren, Patrick Dickerson of Independence, Sue Ann Cunningham of Kansas City, and Sheyn Dickerson of Independence; a sister, Maudie Melvin of Quincy; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jack Woods, whom she kept as a student in his high school years and his wife, Martha, of Milford, Ohio.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a baby girl, Ivis Joyce in 1934; and a sister, Leona Coates and her husband, Harold.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ivan Greuter officiating. Burial will be in Ravanna Cemetery in Ravanna, Mo.

VISITATION: 9 to 10 a.m. Monday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

We are sad to know Lillie has gone. We appreciated her loving spirit at Central Baptist Church. We remember going to Quincy High School with Ronald Collings. You all have our sympathy and prayers.
