FAIRBORN Woodrow "Woody" Barker, 86, of Fairborn, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013. He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 32 years, Ruby; his son, Robert W. Barker & wife Mary Ellen of Eureka, CA and their family, Rob Barker , Julia Hartwell , Joe Barker; Woody's 2nd son, Tom Barker & wife Chris of Beavercreek, and their family, Lisa & husband Rex Baker, Thomas Barker & wife Stephanie, and Amy Barker; Woody's daughter, Nita Jane Miller of Beavercreek, and her family, Cori Cagle , and Danielle Miller; Woody's 2nd daughter, Jennifer D. Williams & fiancé Rick Flanary of Springfield and her daughters, Brittany and Haley Wright. Woody is also survived by his great grandchildren, Maddie, Hunter, Blue, Thomas, Michael, Christian and Jordan; Woody's brothers and sister include the following, Sherman Barker, Donald Barker, Carolyn Skinner, and Dr. Rev. Herbert Barker; and many beloved and cherished relatives and friends not mentioned. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence J. and Olla May Barker; 5 brothers, Jerry, Preston, Daniel C., Talmadge, and Barney. Woody was a foster parent to many children who have grown into successful adults, including Jim Barnes of Kentucky. He was a member of the Vandalia Christian Tabernacle under the Shephardship of Pastor Todd Hoskins; was a distinguished Veteran of WWII serving in the Navy of our beloved nation. He belonged to the Masonic Order, Beavercreek Lodge, was a Shriner with the Temple of Dayton; a lifetime member of the VFW in Beavercreek, AmVets, Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge . Woody was a very successful businessman and owner of Barker's Well Drilling and Pump Service, located in Beavercreek. He had an unwaivering love of animals, owning a horse breeding farm for many years and belonging to many other organizations. With respectful gratitude for a life shared and now blessedly at rest, and with heartfelt praise. Home Going Services for Woody will begin at 1:00pm Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Vandalia Christian Tabernacle, 836 S. Brown School Rd. He was the man, the most honest and forthright man ever. He loved children and all people. I never heard a bad word about another human being from him. It was always "Oh well that man must have problems." Father friend and advice man that was Woody.

We will always remember him, he was a wonderful man, and a great Dad. When we were growing up Woody was always there with advice, and always thought the cup was half full. You will be missed by your friends and Family. Every time I think of you I will smile.
