Vattimo, Emanuel A.
Bloomfield: Emanuel A. Vattimo died during the early morning of Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 following his battle with cancer. He began his life's vocation of teaching in Lima (later Honeoye Falls - Lima) in 1959 and continued there for 36 years, nominally teaching sixth grade, but he truly believed in teaching all students, all the time-not only the usual school subiects, but about life. Throughout his career he also coached basketball, soccer, track, and taught a summer program.
He was married to Rosemary Kemp on Sept. 5, 1959 having two sons, Peter and Paul. Manny, as he preferred to be known, worked at Present Co. for several years-teaching during the day, working retail at night, and spending time with his family whenever possible. His classroom, and later his home, were an "organized disorganization"-on the surface appearing to be a confused clutter, he could find almost anything on request. Likewise, on meeting a former student after decades apart, he might not remember a name, but would instead offer a memory of some shared time together. People gave him the most happiness in his life and he was thankful for his family, students, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary in 1986, his son Paul in 2000, and is survived by his son, Peter (Leslie).
Friends are invited to call at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo at., Canandaigua, Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be directed to your local public school or library.
