In 1960, she rekindled her love of the cello and joined The Torrington Civic Symphony soon after. She was their historian for many years and faithfully kept scrapbooks of their concerts and articles from the local newspapers. She often wrote the program notes for their concerts. She was actively involved in the Beardsley and Memorial Library for 27 years, serving as secretary, vice-president and then as president of The Board of Trustees from 1986 to 2003. In 2000, the Association of Connecticut Library Boards awarded her a Certificate of Appreciation for her many contributions to the improvements and expansion of the library. Her love of gardening stayed with her well into her 70's. She was also member of the Greenwoods Chapter of the DAR for 50 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Beardsley and Memorial Library, 40 Munro Place, Winsted, CT 06098 or to The Torrington Civic Symphony, 113 Buena Vista Ave, Torrington, CT 06790.
