Allen Wolf Obituary

Wolf, Allen

Allen Wolf, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2013 at Sheboygan Senior Community where he had been a resident for the past 3 1/2 years. Allen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois to parents Samuel and Bessie Wolf.

He married his love, Millie, on August 4, 1943. Al enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII for 2 years and was stationed in China. On January 19, 1945 an aircraft crashed near his air base in China. Staff Sergeant Allen Wolf and 8 other fellow Air Corps members immediately proceeded to the location of the crashed plane, which had caught fire. The pilot and four crew members were able to be rescued. After the pilot and crew were freed, the flames completely covered the wreckage. For his disregard for his personal safety and courage he was awarded the Soldier's Medal.

Al and Millie started their own business in Morton Grove, Illinois. They named the business Aladdin Draperies. Millie was the interior decorator and Al was the drapery installer. They had a successful drapery business for many years, until Millie's health started to fail. They then moved to Phoenix, Arizona and later to San Jose, California.

Allen was known for his speed in being able to use a drill! He could fix anything. His hands were always busy doing something. He was also known for his appetite and could finish a meal faster than the speed of lightening. Allen loved dogs and loved to drive. He and Millie loved to travel. Millie preceded Al in death on April 9, 1989.

Allen is survived by his son & daughter-in-law Roger Wolf & Joann Johnson of Pacific Grove, CA; Bev & Darryl Pippert of Oostburg; brother & sister-in-law Don & Ana Wolf of Sierra Vista, AZ; granddaughter Jennifer & Mark Mand of Sheboygan; great-grandchildren: Trevor Arnoldi, Ayvah Mand, Mariah Mand, & Addison Mand; and nieces and nephews.

Per Allen's wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation to be handled by Ballhorn Chapels. At a later date, Al's ashes will be buried next to Millie at Shalom Memorial Park in Palatine, Illinois.

The family would like to thank with sincere gratitude and appreciation the following: The entire Sheboygan Senior Community team especially the nurses and CNA's that gave Al hands-on care during the past 4-5 days. Your loving care towards Al and the family went above and beyond your job duties. You are all my angels. The entire staff of Hospice Advantage who have been so very thoughtful, caring, and professional over the past 1 1/2 years that Al had been in your care. Your dedication to this kind of nursing gets 100% of my respect. Your dedication to this field is outstanding. And to Dr. Pawlak, thank you so much for taking such good care of Allen since he moved to Sheboygan. You were always so quick to respond to his needs.

Our sincere sympathy to the entire family. I am certain Allen truly appreciated all the help and care given to him -- especially from Bev, his loving and caring daughter. I remember when Bev and I took Allen and my Uncle Elroy to Log Cabin for lunch years ago. They certainly enjoyed themselves!! Our love and prayers are with you all at this very dificult time.
