Maurinus
Pinehurst, NC: Betty Maurinus Tate, 91, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 19, 2013 at Carolina House of Pinehurst.
Mrs. Tate is preceded in death by her husband Robert Burrell Tate of Whispering Pines NC, father C. Howard Maurinus and mother Olive LeRoy Maurinus of Rochester, NY.
She is survived by her son Robert D. (Sharon), brother Robert L. Maurinus (June), Grandsons Robert (Sara), Jeffrey (Corinne), and Kenneth (Jennifer), six great-grand children, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tate and her husband enjoyed golf, bridge and their many friends both in Whispering Pines and in Rochester. For many years she was active at Grace Methodist Church, and volunteered at the Twig Shop, Women's Exchange and Moore Coalition.
A private family service will held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke University Welsh-Bohmer Gift Fund (Alzheimer's Research) online at www.gifts.duke.edu or via mail to Alumni & Development Records, Duke University, Box 90581, Durham, NC 27708-0581.
