Met Bill at Bank of America branch on Main in Gainesville. He was my second customer. We're both Florida boys and were proud of it. I last saw him two years ago at the Downtown Arts festival. We hadn't seen each other in a while. He gave me a hug right away and told me about his building project. Solid man. Proud father. I'm happy to have known him. God bless you Bill. And your family.

I only knew Bill for a few years, but he always made me laugh about something. We both had a fondness for boiled peanuts and he would drop off a bag for me every now and then. I know he was proud of his children because he would tell me about them. God bless you all.

Dear Chick Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I only knew Bill as "Casey's sweet "daddy" while he was visiting her at her home. He always had a genuine kind smile and a sweet word for my young son... my son with Autism that most ignore- Not Bill. Bill always offered a BIG smile, sometimes a hug, and left my boy laughing and smiling. One afternoon he came to visit Casey but arrived before Casey was home. Instead of leaving or sitting in his truck, he got out and began pushing my son on his little tricycle. It was obvious that it wasn't physically comfortable for him to do so, but his smile and laughter with my little boy is a memory I will treasure forever about Bill.. I will never forget hearing that chirp on her phone, as she and I were finishing dinner together, notifying her that she must get to the hospital asap, she went bone white and into tears immediately. My heart sunk as I knew that the world was losing a good guy way too soon. As you all come together, know that others are thinking of you during this difficult time and that your Bill made a difference in many ways.. and on a few occasions, he made a HUGE difference that not many know about to a little boy that most people ignore. Thank You Bill for your kindness... you will be missed.

Oh how hard it is to say goodby to yet another dear friend Bill. My 3 protectors in school is now down to 1... Our times in School & Ag were those of cherished memories. I was shocked when I read about it, but you now live in peace and free of pain with our Lord above. It's a wicked journey you traveled with cancer, as I am a widow of the same. My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to the Chick family, and oh boy has that grown. You were a man to look up to - even to your brothers! G.B.N.F. my buddy... Until I See you on the other side....

Bill was the best. We went to high school together. Lost contact with Bill until about 10 years ago and found each other on classmates. Kept in touch by email. I know he was a good father and husband. I loved him very much in high school and he will be missed by me and everyone. My sympathy goes out to the family. May he rest in peace.

Bill was a great family man with a kind heart to any soul that had the pleasure of calling him friend. I will never forget his wry smile, quick wit and passion for sports. Pompano/Gainesville has lost a one of a kind true gentleman. Your memory will live on forever just as Mike's has because of the lives you have enriched during your time with us. Good bye old friend, save me a place so we can start anew.
