LaDonna Joan Sumpter, 59, of Bartlesville, died at 3:40 A.M. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Bartlesville Health & Rehab facility.
Services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Sneed Chapel of the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Randy Thomson officiating. Memorial services and cremation will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Jane Phillips Dialysis Center, 3500 S.E. State Street, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
LaDonna Joan Sumpter was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on December 30, 1953 the daughter of Clarence Olen Sumpter and Juanita Joan (Sweetland) Sumpter. During her father's job location overseas, she went to Alexandria, Egypt with her parents in 1963. She also made her home in London, England where she attended an English boarding school and the American military school. She returned to Bartlesville where she attended College High School for two years and then returned to London to finish her last two years at the American School of London. During her time there she had the opportunity to travel on school trips to Spain and Rome. She later returned to the United States and attended Okmulgee Tech at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She worked various jobs in the Bartlesville area, was an active gardener that grew her own herbs and in later years was a jewelry designer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, loved cats, enjoyed going to Hillcrest Country Club for dinner and was known for her way of "Spreading Sunshine".
LaDonna is survived by a son, Stephen Walker of Phoenix, Arizona, her parents, Clarence O. and Juanita J. Sumpter of Bartlesville, a sister, Barbara Terry of Santa Cruz, California, a niece, Stephanie Burke, a great niece and great nephew, Brittany and Justin all of California and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by all of her grandparents.
