Alexandria - Funeral services for John Roy "Red" Trantham, 50, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Wayne Dunaway and Frank Haynie officiating. Burial will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Trantham died Thursday at his home. Survivors include his wife, Polly Trantham; son, Tommy (Becca) Trantham; his mother, Wynell Trantham; his brothers, Mark Trantham and Robert (Cupid) Trantham; his sister, Becky Trantham; his grandfather, Palace Roberts; aunts, Laura (James) Stegall, Elaine Haynes, Kathy Rich and Marty Trantham; uncles, David (Wanda) Trantham, Doug (Phoebe) Trantham, Don (Anita) Trantham, and Johnny (Sandy) Trantham; great-aunts, Virginia "Snooks" Gowens and Leomey Jackson; nephews, Keith "Jughead" Trantham, Gavin Anderson; nieces, Kara "Curly" Trantham, Anna Anderson (Dennis), Katie "Granny" Parker, Molly "Tater" Parker; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Trantham and his brother, Steve Trantham. Mr. Trantham was a lifelong resident of Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1982. He was a self employed truck driver for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
