Judith Ann Parker-Linnemeyer December 22, 1944 – May 31, 2013 Judith Ann Parker-Linnemeyer, age 68, died of respiratory complications on Friday, May 31, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital. Judi was born Judith Ann Glenn on December 22, 1944, in Denver, CO to Ray and Katie Glenn. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Edith Parker of Delta, CO. She was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta about a year after her birth which was practically unknown at that time. She attended the Delta Public Schools and graduated from Delta High School in 1963. She attended Mesa College, Fort Lewis College, and UNC where she received her Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Art and Special Education from UNC in Greeley. She taught in several public schools, including Nucla, Orchard Mesa, Thunder Mountain, and Clifton, and retired with 31 years of service. Judi was named Colorado Handicapped Worker of the year in 1970. She was honored with a Handicap Recognition Award in 1990. She was honored with Teacher of the Year in 1999. She entered the P.E.O. Sisterhood in 1965. Judi retired in 1999, and became active in many organizations, which included serving on the board of Community Concert, membership in the Audubon Society, and advisor to the City of Grand Junction for handicapped services. She also held many position in P.E.O. Chapters BK, N, and HU. Her social activities included bridge, pinochle, the theater, community concert, symphony and her many worldwide travels. Most important was her active participation at First Presbyterian Church of Grand Junction. She served as Deacon, Elder, and Stephens Ministry leader. She volunteered many hours helping in the office. Her animals were her children. She loved her many dogs, but also her ducks and birds. Everyone of her dogs sensed her needs. She had a special connection with all of them, including her first dog, Stubby, and then Button, Sugar Bear and Pooh Bear, Spice, and finally Annie, her rescue dog. She touched so many people in her lifetime. Many of her students from as far back as 31 years, would come up to her and tell her how much she inspired them. None of her physical disabilities ever stopped her from accomplishing any of her goals, including learning to drive with hand controls. She was married at First Presbyterian Church of Grand Junction on June 17, 2010 to Raymond Linnemeyer of Grand Junction, CO. Judi is survived by her husband, Raymond; dog, Annie, along with her mother, Katie Zins; her sister, Sandi Ritter, and brother, Chuck Glenn. She is also survived by her aunt, Charlotte Hillyer, and cousins, Dr. Jim Parker; Tim Parker; Stephanie Barnett; Suzanne Grzych; Dianne Lee; Deborah Drake; Kelly Glenn; Terry Glenn; Chip Bromfield; LuAnn Marino; Elizabeth Racey, and nephew, Russell Glenn. She had many other family members who will miss her. A memorial service will be held later this month at the First Presbyterian Church. A private family service was held earlier. To one of my most favorite people and dear cousins. It was so nice growing up just a block away from Judi's house. When I was a kid I would ride my bike and stop and visit often. These last few years it was fun exchanging old photos on the internet. I remember her first year as a student teacher in Delta. I was lucky to have her as my art teacher in 8th grade. Will miss you.

I met Judy 50 years ago when we attended Mesa College. She was an inspiration and amazing lady. I can see her in Heaven, romping with her dogs, making up for lost time! My sympathies go out to her husband and family. You are in my prayers.

My heart aches for my "little" big sister. Her laugh, her generosity, and lust for life will always be in my memory. She helped shape my life, to never complain about petty things. She never complained about the bigs things and had every right to do so.
I love you so much my sweet Jud Pud.

Judi Parker had a smile that lit up her face and eyes...she was a gentle spirit but her eyes could flash when she was angry...I substituted for her several times...she will always be in the heart of those whose lives she touched..she was a one of a kind......

She always had a smile on her face and she never felt or acted like she had a disability. Wish there were more people like her in this world.

She was truley a gift from god, to all the lives she had touched. I was priviledged to have her come hear the 35 little pre-schoolers I teach music to , at Joyful Journey Pre-schoole.She was so pleased with there performance. Coming from her, that was like getting an A on your finals.I am so blessed, that she has touched my life.

When I began my teaching career 31 years ago, I was lucky enough to be partnered up with Judi while filling in for another special education teacher at Thunder Mountain. She inspired me in oh so many ways, and I have never forgotten the lessons she taught me about humanity and my students.

I had many adventures with Judi---from the first day when she opened her door, her house, her heart to me and my dog Vas-- total strangers come to stay as Artist in Residence with Judi at Thunder Mountain. That was 1985. We ended up as friends and traveled to New Zealand, Jamaica, Washington DC and many road trips together singing Anne Murray songs and looking at the West. I have stories that I love to tell---stories that Judi might rather I keep to myself..Ha! But she always ended our conversations after I said " I love you" with her sign off of "I love you more"--and I never doubted she did. Judi---bigger in my life than you ever knew.

She was always one of my heroes. I attended elementary and high school with her. I can still hear her infectious giggle. Her accomplishments speak for themselves; she was remarkable in every way.

Judi lived several blocks from me in Delta and she was several years ahead of me in HS. She was a breath of fresh air as she always took time to say hi when she was outside and I was passing by. I am sorry to hear of her passing but am blessed to have know her.

I would normally say, "Rest in Peace, Judy" but for you I am picturing you running, dancing and climbing! I first met you at Ft Lewis and you changed my life...what an inspiration you are! I was so thrilled to meet up with you again when I moved back to Grand Junction many many years later. You are a shining star and I know Jesus has told you, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!" You will be greatly missed here on earth, but many are eagerly aniticipating meeting up with you again!
