Don was born in Monahans, Texas on March 28, 1938. He graduated from Saint Jo High School in 1958 as Captain of the Panthers Football Team, he went on to work at General Dynamics of Fort Worth, Texas, the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Ill where he met his wife Bonnie and retired from Southwest Research Institute in 1997 as a Composites Supervisor in the Department of Material Sciences. He continued to work with SWRI as a consultant for several years thereafter. His proudest achievement at SWRI was the development of an artificial limb that helped children with Cerebral Palsy be able to eat more independently. While working at General Dynamics he developed the composite tube-fabrication technology.
Don enjoyed reading and learning about history, theology, and government. Additionally he enjoyed working on home improvement projects specifically ones that would help his family with daily life. One of his favorite past times was telling stories and sitting around just conversing with family and friends.
Don's wishes were to be cremated with no official services to be performed. In his memory his family will have a memorial on August 03, 2013 from 11am-2pm to be held at V.F.W. Post 9174 located at 2410 Pinn Rd San Antonio, Texas.
