CHARLOTTE - Nell Elmore Campbell, 86, passed away July 21, 2013.
A Gaston County native, she was a daughter of the late Holland Oscar and Ida Mae Ellington Elmore, wife of the late Leon Alexander Campbell.
Affectionately known as "Nanny," "Aunt Nell" and "The Snack Queen," Nell was devoted to her family and loved ones. She enjoyed crafts and needlework, especially the joy of handcrafting and giving away Christmas ornaments.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathryn "Kathy" Woodfin and her husband, George, of Charlotte; brother, James "Jimmy" Elmore, of Austell, Ga.; granddaughter, Kelly Woodfin, of Charlotte; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lucy and Jim Robbins, Christopher Robbins and Jenise Robbins Lonergan. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Leon Campbell; brother, William Elmore; and sisters, Louise Howe, Mary Parnell, Barbara Stowe and Ella Mae Elmore.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethesda United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Cloninger officiating.
Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
