Richard "Dick" Henry Hackmann
AGE: 82 • Hazlet
Richard "Dick" Henry Hackmann, 82, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2013. He was born on May 5, 1931 in Rahway, NJ. He has remained a lifelong resident of New Jersey, but, had lived in Maryland and Florida before returning to New Jersey in 2012. Before Dick's retirement, he worked for DuPont, Parlin, NJ. Post retirement he served with the Maryland Department of Transportation as a bus driver. He was also a retired self -employed plumber and had a NJ Master Plumber License.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and he received two Bronze Stars in Vietnam. He was a Seabee and remained actively involved with them attending annual reunions. He was a 50 year member of the Matawan Masonic Lodge #192 and also a member of the Midway Hose Company in Matawan. He was an active member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport.
He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Grace Hackmann, brothers Ronald and Henry Hackmann, a sister Marjorie Longstreet, his first wife Nancy of 27 years, his second wife Anna of 32 years and his son Rich Hackmann. He leaves behind 2 daughters and sons in law, Barbara Hoffman and Phil Dodge, and Linda and Michael Quigley, 1 daughter in law, Sue Hackmann. 2 stepchildren Jay Ash and JoAnne Lloyd, 5 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on August 1, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville. A Masonic and funeral services will be held during the evening viewing at 8/pm and private cremation will follow. Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.waittfh.com

Uncle Dick you will always be on my mind....I have such great memories of you, from the boat yard stories to the backyard birthday parties playing softball across the street in the parking lot....never a dull moment....I know you will be happy in heaven with your siblings.....goodbye my friend and uncle.....farewell
