Bobbie Greenwood Obituary

Bobbie Jean Greenwood

April 22, 1952

July 30, 2013

Bobbie Jean Greenwood, age 61, went to be with her Lord on July 30, 2013 in Reno, Nevada. She was born to Archie and Cager Lee Vaughn Cox on April 22, 1952.

Bobbie was introduced to Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Hawthorne. She held her faith throughout her life.

In 1971, Bobbie graduated from Mineral County High School and moved to Boise, Idaho to attend Links School of Business. After returning from Boise, she was employed at the Marine Corp Exchange. Later she worked at DZHC in Pass and ID for 21 years. She was an advocate of Mineral County Advocates to End Domestic Violence and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2313.

Bobbie met and married Frank Greenwood on June 28, 1975. They were married 38 years and were blessed with three sons and one daughter.

In 2003, Bobbie moved to Reno. She decided to further her education and later received an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Truckee Meadows Community College. She also attended the University Nevada Reno for three years. Bobbie decided she wanted to use her educational skills in a positive way and began working at the Center for Independent Living and later in private employment as an Assisted Living Coordinator.

Bobbie had a passion for cooking and enjoyed having holiday dinner parties with her family and friends. She liked camping with her family and going to the lake. She was an excellent billiard player and enjoyed shooting pool with the Blue Lite Babes. Bobbie loved to dance, watch movies and relax with friends on the weekends. Also, she would get with old friends and talk about the "Good Old Days" at Mineral County High School and the fun times in Boise. She also enjoyed volunteering and was always willing to help others. Bobbie was a very humble person and will always be remembered for her ability to make people laugh.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Frank Greenwood of Sparks, NV; sons Rameriz Greenwood (Helena) of Houston, TX; Tyran Greenwood of Reno, NV; Frank Jakori Greenwood of Reno, NV; and daughter Shayla Greenwood of Dearfield Beach, FL; grandchildren Hannah Greenwood of Fallon, NV; Jalen and Mariah Greenwood of Pueblo, CO; Jakori Greenwood of Reno, NV, and Jerae Greenwood of Salinas, CA; parents Archie and Cager Lee Cox of Hawthorne; brothers Arthur Cox of Hawthorne, Rev. Robert Cox (Lelia) of Hawthorne, and Archie Cox, Jr. (Christy Bryant) of Grants Pass, OR, sisters Rita Mackedon of Fallon, and Kellie Camp of Hawthorne; and brother-in-law Billy Greenwood of Sparks, NV; and a host of caring relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, on Saturday, August 10th, at 1:00 p.m. in Hawthorne, NV.
