REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. - Master Sgt. Floyd K. Redeye, 91, went home with his creator on Monday (Aug. 5, 2013) at the home of his daughter in Reynoldsville, surrounded by family and loving friends.
Born Dec. 11, 1921, in Kill Buck, N.Y., he was a son of the late Sherman and Lillian Redeye. He was married to the former Liselotte Shuster in Augsburg, Germany, following World War II. She predeceased him May 31, 1998.
During World War II, he served in the 71st Infantry. During the Korean War, he served in the 78th Calvary. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He served in Germany, Japan, Iceland and Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star several times, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Silver Star. He retired in 1973.
Following his retirement from the armed forces, he was employed by Dresser-Clark in Olean, N.Y. He also served in the capacity of night guard at Seneca Junction.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Snipe Clan. He enjoyed going to the races, bowling, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed chocolate, word search puzzles and the Seneca Veterans Pow Wow.
Surviving are two daughters, Edith (Sigfried) Stockel of Garland, Texas, and Else (Kenneth) Crawford of Reynoldsville; a son, Stanley (Debbie) Redeye of Crue, Va.; four grandchildren, Gayle (Lumi) Ruiz of Kill Buck, N.Y., Lisa (Craig) Marshall of Colorado Springs, Colo., Oliver (Meghan) Stockel of Nevada, Texas, and Stanley F. Redeye of Tannersville; an adopted granddaughter, Lisa (Hazel) Ricketts of Curwinsville; three step-grandsons, Kenneth Crawford of DuBois, Lucas (Kelly) Crawford of DuBois and Daniel (Lori) Crawford of Reynoldsville; five great-grandchildren, Ashlee Ruiz, Emilee Ruiz and Baylee Ruiz, all of Kill Buck, Dustin Redeye of Syracuse, N.Y., and Madison Stockel of Nevada, Texas; nine step-great-grandchildren, Kira Jo Crawford, Alexis Crawford, Maddie Crawford, Cody Crawford, Colton Crawford, Foster Crawford, McKenzie Crawford, Abe Crawford and Noah Crawford; a brother, Stanley Redeye of Vallejo, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille (Stanley) Redeye and Phoebe (Clifford) Redeye.
He also left behind Cubby, his constant and loyal companion.
He was predeceased by his brother, Clifford Redeye; and two sisters, Margaret Redeye and Anna Redeye.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday (Aug. 9, 2013) at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y. Funeral services will be held in the home at 6 p.m. with Maurice John and the Rev. Dave Nagele, pastor of the Brockport Church of God, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
