Joseph Louis Ford Jr. passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at age 80. "JL" is survived by his loving wife Gail Sierra Ford of 58 years, five children; Pamela Ford Swanner, Joseph Ford III, Randall Ford, Lisa Dickson (David), and Dean Ford. Grandfather to Melissa Swanner Pettavino (John), Michelle Swanner Yenni (Michael), Michael Swanner Jr., Patrick Swanner, Amanda Swanner, Joseph Ford IV, Justin Ford, Julia Ford, Jared Ford, Randall Ford Jr., William Dickson, Robert Dickson, Carl Dickson, David Dickson Jr., Jessica Ford and Jacob Ford. Great grandfather to Nicklaus Pettavino, Mia Pettavino, Stephen Pettavino, and Reagan Yenni. Preceded in death by brother Justin Ford and sister Marlene Ford Enger. Survived by Leonor Ford Schellhaas, Kenneth Ford and by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in, and a lifetime resident of New Orleans, and post Katrina, of Gonzales, La. Graduate of St. Aloysius and Tulane. Air Force jet fighter pilot, professional chemist, construction contractor and Past President of The Greater New Orleans Home Builders Association. After retiring, he resumed his passion as baritone euphonium with the Baton Rouge Concert Band and with American Legion Band Post 175, Metairie, Louisiana. JL made time for fishing, shrimping, enjoying life as a native New Orleanian, and keeping up with his grandchildren. JL will be greatly missed by all. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday September 3, at 1:30pm in the chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:30am and continue until Mass time. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.schoencanalstreet.com
