Dear Family,
While this message is late, I just wanted to share how Professor Zahka changed my life at Widener University.
He was the reason I selected economics as a major, directly responsible for my success in my senior thesis, and made it possible for me to attend American University's study abroad program in Belgium in 1993.
Simply put, Professor Zahka anchored my entire experience at Widener University. Before Professor Zahka passed, we had lunch at a restaurant in Swarthmore where I sought his guidance for graduate school.
I will miss him dearly.

Dear Carrie,
I was able to catch up with your "Big Sis," at Homecoming today, and was very sorry to hear of your losses. I had your Dad back in my ('79 to '83) Widener days, and he truly was an outstanding educator.
I will hold you and your loved ones "in the light," with thoughts for healing and strength.
Warm regards,
Wendy (your "Big Sister's Big Sister)

"Professor Zahka was, by far, my most favorite professor at Widener University. He brought it all to the classroom - his knowledge of economics, his smile, his personality, his sense of humor, his personal stories and anecdotes, his Boston accent. When I worked at Widener immediately after graduating I asked him to bring be back some pink sand from his vacation to Bermuda....and he remembered and brought that sand back to me. He received accolades such as "Distinguished Professor" and "Outstanding Faculty" multiple times and he richly deserved them but I will remember him as an outstanding individual, mentor and family man who loved life and shared that with everyone he met. I really truly loved Professor Bill Zahka..."
