James D. "Andy" Anderson, 90, of El Paso, Ark., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013.
Andy was born in El Paso, on March 17, 1923, to the Rev. Ernest Anderson and Etta (Golden) Anderson.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. Andy received four Bronze Stars for his service during the War. Shortly after his active military service he entered the Army National Guard and retired as the Assistant Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard in 1984. Andy loved to serve his community and its people. He was very active in many civic and community activities. His service to the community included serving as president on the White County Farm Bureau, White County Fair Board, El Paso Community Center Board, and the Grissard Cemetery Board. Andy was also a member of the Arkansas General Assembly and the Arkansas Good Roads Commission. He was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; and their two sons, Tom (Terri) Anderson of Conway and Marc (Jill) Anderson of Conway; four grandchildren, Mallory, Derrick, Madeline, and Adam; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest; his mother, Etta; one brother, H.B. Anderson; and two sisters, Lavelle Hooten and Mildred Prince.
Pallbearers will be Adam Anderson, Derrick Anderson, James Anderson, Andy Prince, Tom Prince, Steve Oakley, Austin Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Lance Goff, Leslie Goff, Adam Prince, and Alex Prince.
The visitation and funeral services will be at Union Valley Baptist Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, with the funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the El Paso Community Center or Grissard Cemetery in El Paso.
Burial will be in Grissard Cemetery.

I was Mr. Anderson's next door neighbor for several years. He was a very friendly neighbor that turned into a great friend. My condolences.
