Kevin Mooney
Kevin Mooney, 63 of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 3, 2013.
Kevin was born in New York, NY on July 27, 1950, son of the late Bartholomew and Eleanor (Kreisel) Mooney. A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served our country during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Third Armored Division. Kevin was an HVAC professional for over 30 years and was currently enjoying his retirement, having recently traveled to Hawaii and Ireland. He was an avid New York Jets and Yankees fan and also enjoyed fishing. A member of St. John the Beloved Parish, Kevin was a loving husband and devoted father.
Kevin will be dearly missed by his wife of 34 years, Dolores C. (Bonner) Mooney; and his daughters, Beth, Megan and Erin Mooney. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard, Francis, Brian and Bartholomew Mooney; his sisters, Helen Mooney, Bernadette Tringone, Maureen Stanton and Elizabeth Mulhern; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Terence Mooney.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, October 7 from 5:00 - 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, October 8 at 9:30AM. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kevin may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
