HOSEA, Thomas J.
Former Grosse Pointe Woods, and Jupiter, FL resident Thomas J. Hosea (Tom) of St. Clair Shores, MI died peacefully at home with immediate family on October 18, 2013. He was born May 7, 1928 in New Castle, IN to Paul and Rosabelle Hosea. Mr. Hosea served in the United States military in the Army Signal Corps Intelligence Unit. He was a graduate of DeLaSalle Collegiate, Kettering University (Phi Kappa Epsilon Fraternity) with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and subsequently received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He worked 38 years for General Motors Corporation in a variety of management and executive positions including Director of Research and Development, Fisher Body Division, Director of Engineering/Operating Systems, Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Group, Director of G.M. Corporate Organization Studies, and G.M.'s first Corporate Director of Quality and Reliability. Subsequent to his retirement from G.M., he served as Vice President of Product Engineering for Modern Engineering Service Company. A member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe, Mr. Hosea was also active in many organizations including Our Lady Queen of Peace School Board, Engineering Society of Detroit, Grosse Pointe Little League, President of the American Society of Body Engineers and the International Executive Service Corps. He also was a member of the County Club of Detroit and past member of Otsego Ski Club, Jonathan's Landing Golf Club of Jupiter, FL and Lochmoor Club of Grosse Pointe. Mr. Hosea is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Bette Rademacher), sons, Dr. Timothy (Libet) of Princeton, NJ, David (Valerie) of Palm Coast, FL, Mark (Sharon) of Orchard Lake, MI, Paul (Christine) of Laguna Beach, CA and grandchildren, Hadley (Jeffrey) Olsen, Whitney, Kirby, David, Pamela (Jody) Shepherd, Thomas (Kim), Brooke, Brent, and Katherine, three great-grandsons, Walker Hosea, Grant and Bryce Shepherd. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Friday, October 25, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 157 Lakeshore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms; MI Instate 11:30 AM until time of Mass. Interment will be at St. Paul Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DeLaSalle Collegiate High School, 14600 Common Rd Warren, MI 48088, St. John Hospital Foundation, P.O.
