Dube, Ruth O. Todd 09/27/1922 ~ 11/07/2013 OCEANSIDE -- Ruth passed away peacefully at her home after 91 wonderful years. She will be missed greatly by her family and all that came to know her. Born in Salem, MA, she graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1940. She served as a Navy Corpsman 1943-1945 with US Marine Corps at Parris Island, SC. She was one of the Rosie the Riveters. She was married on December 8, 1946 to Charles A. Dube. After many moves around the country, they came to Garden Grove CA in 1955 and finally to Oceanside in 1962. She found time, after raising five kids, to be a teacher's aid for the Oceanside School district. She was twice President of the Oceanside Emblem Club #177 and was a member of the Escondido Emblem Club #161, Oceanside Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved gardening, travel, puzzles and hummingbirds. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years; their five children, Cyndi, Charlene, Todd, Chuck and Craig; six grandchildren, Eric , Adam, Kirsten, Bailey, Taylor and Hailey; and five great-grandchildren, Autumn, Courtney, Noah, Jordan and Aubree; and extended family throughout the East and West Coast. She maintained her Massachusetts's roots by never losing her East Coast accent and her love for all sports. Her celebration of life will be held at the Oceanside Elks Lodge, Thursday, November 21, from 12 noon to 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Elks Lodge # 1561, Oceanside, in honor of Ruth Dube.

Our sincere condolences to the Dube family. Ruth was a wonderful woman who raised great children. We remember a comment Jo said one time that Ruth and her husband were great role models for being in love.

She was the light of many things. I remember being sick in 4th grade and my mom had to go to work. Your mother watched me for the day. I was afraid because I wasn't used to being with a babysitter. Your mother's compassion that day left me with an overwhelming love and respect for her. She was always a woman of kindness. God's blessings to all of your family. May she shine above and watch over her children and grandchildren in the years to come. Thank you for sharing your memories.

My wonderful Mother lived a very full and long life. She instilled in all her children the love of travel which started when we were all very young. My first trip that I remember was a cross country trip from Ca. to Mass. We camped and visited as many national parks and monuments as we could. I still remember so many moments of that trip. Mom and Dad continued to take bus trips and had one planned soon. She was and always will be an inspiration to me to become the best that I can be. She is an AMAZING WOMAN to me. Love you with all my heart.

Todd, Kathy and Hailey, .I regret never meeting your momma. Kathy has shared so many wonderful things about her. While I never met her face to face I loved her spunk and zest for life! You could see it in her eyes in the pictures I have seen. You and all the family will be in my prayers as you walk this road of such a great loss. Never forget the promise our Lord gives us and that you will see your mother again and she will see her son. Let Jesus bring you comfort during this difficult time.

Mrs. Dube was the "Light of the Lodge" whose kindness, charm, and never-ending sense of optimism was felt by anyone who came into contact with her. She has left a clear void that will be keenly felt. My condolences to the entire Dube family. May God put a healing hand upon your shattered hearts.

I am sorry that I will be unable to attend Ruth's service. I will be in San Francisco. We have been friends since the seventies and I will miss her greatly.
She was always so "lively" it's hard to believe she is no longer with us.

My memories of Mrs. Dube are always softball related. We could always count on Mr and Mrs. Dube attending our softball games and being our best fans. Their voices were always cheerful and supportive even in our weakest moments. I will always remember MRS. as a very cheerful and kind lady even away from the ballpark. I can only imagine a gold filled set of bleachers awaiting for Mrs. Dube in heaven. I am sure she will be missed by her family. Fondly, Mary Ellen Davis

Her laugh was infectious and could light a dimly lit room. 91! What a life! She was always filled with joy at our various family gatherings – which tended to be at pizza places… We joked that her youth and vitality was due to her diet: pizza and beer! …And don't worry grammie – I will make sure grandpa continues to get the first slice of well-done pepperoni
She was the glue that held together a very diverse and strong willed group of personalities – have you met my dad, Todd ;)
My grammie was great at paying attention to detail – from her ability to put together the most detailed of puzzles to making sure she always sent out Halloween, Valentine's day, and every other holiday card (first to me then to my little ones) always with a $2 bill inside.
To say she loved and adored each of her grandchildren would be an understatement… Pictures of all of us are scattered throughout Dube household. To this day all of us girls search the house for pictures – everywhere from tissue boxes, walls, to light switch plates.
She loved hummingbirds – and as a grandchild in search of a gift for their grandparent, hummingbirds were what she got; from watches, t-shirts, socks, and knick-knacks – they are everywhere in her house ? Even in her yard – which is adorned with hummingbird feeders and plants they are known to love.
To say that she will be missed – is an understatement. Despite her physical absence from our lives – she will brighten our darkest of days when we think of her laugh, her love of hummingbirds and her love for us, her family.
