GAJARSKY
Robert Frank, 77, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013.
Beloved husband of Marie for over 53 years, father of Robert and Shannon Gajarsky, grandfather of Laura and Thomas and brother of Mary Ann Ackerman. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary (Schley) Gajarsky and a sister Carol Quinn.
Originally from Garfield, the family moved to Fair Lawn in 1944. Bob served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 170 of Rochelle Park.
He joined the Fair Lawn Police Department in 1960. After serving 36 years on the force, he retired at the rank of Captain of Detectives. During his career, he earned several degrees in criminal justice. One of only four Fair Lawn policemen chosen to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, he was a graduate of the 100th session.
Visiting will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

It was a great pleasure to have known Bob; he was always a gentleman and a true professional. As I was the owner of Community Communications in Fair Lawn, he assisted me on several occasions, going above and beyond the usual call-of-duty. May he rest in peace.
