Darrell Keith Miller 70, died Thursday at his residence in Olathe, Kansas. He was born March 4, 1943 in Gorham, Kansas the son of Ernest William and Agnes Joy (Matheson) Miller. He had been a long time Liberal resident graduating from Turpin High School in 1962. He lived in Bartlesville, OK from 2007 - 2012. He enjoyed officiating High School and College football for more than 30 years.
He made the majority of his career in the oil field with companies such as Dowell, BJ Services and Maverick Stimulation, until his eventual retirement in January of 2013 with Basic Energy Services. He also was previous owner of the Beaver Credit Bureau, Beaver, OK, Quinn Oil in Hays, KS, Miller and Sons Trucking, in Turpin, OK and Production Acid Service, Flowers by Girl Friends, Stimco Acid Service all of Liberal, KS.
He had been a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Kansas Jaycees, Kansas High School Activities Association, American Petroleum Institute, the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association and served as Past President of the Liberal Bee Jays. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970.
On January 16, 1965 he married Linda Joan Gray in Beaver, OK and she died May 14, 2012. On March 13, 2013 he married Joan Dale in Bartlesville, OK and she survives. Other survivors include. Sons Kurtis Brent Miller of Liberal, KS; Kevin Bryan Miller and wife Diane of Overland Park KS; Grandchildren Caden Payne Miller, Finley Paige Miller and Ashtin Kate Miller; Sister Joan "Jo" Velasquez of Liberal, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother and a niece.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, at the First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Rummage presiding. Burial will be held at Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation Time will be Monday from 1to 8pm and Tuesday from 9am to 12 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.
