Melvin J. Bechemer
Melvin J. Bechemer, 74, of Tallmadge, Ohio, formerly of Elyria, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 after a lengthy illness at his residence.
He was born August 23, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School and Dale Carnegie School of Sales. Melvin worked for Larson Steel Foundry, Larson Sales, Wheeler Boyce, Rotocast Technologies, ran Larson Aluminum Foundry and was co-owner of Bechemer Boyce Properties. He was active in Elks of Elyria and Cuyahoga Falls, Elyria Lions Club, Arm Association, VFW, American Legion, Akron Turner Club and Moose Lodge. His interests included cars, cooking, drinking with friends, gambling, golfing, hiding things in home of friends, playing tickets at clubs, love of dogs, practical jokes and Woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (nee Hinman); daughters, JoEllen M. (Kevin ) Williams of Elyria, Ohio, Lorraine (Bill) Eckman of Barberton, Ohio, Marie (Brian ) Baker-Ohler of Goodyear, Arizona, Janet Baker of Avondale, Arizona; grandchildren, Sean, Katie Williams, Denton, and Magdelyn Ohler; great-grandchildren, Brittnei, Courtney Jean, Kevin, Nikolai and Camden Williams; and many wonderful friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin H. and Catherine (nee Negray) and his first wife, Carole A. (nee Boreske).
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 11, 2013, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., (at St. Rt. 57), where service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11 a.m., Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold of Our Lady Queen of Peace church will officiate. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to please tell someone you love, you care and hug a dog for Mel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com.

My deepest sympathy to your entire family. My heart broke when I heard the news. I knew Mel during his WB days and he taught me to live life to the fullest, and what a good belly laugh was all about. Heaven is a better place since Mel walked in the door. I will forever remember his Budweiser pants.
