David D. Gonser passed away on December 16, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born on August 26, 1918 at his family's ranch near Des Moines, New Mexico. David enlisted in the Navy in March of 1942 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. David has lived in Colorado for over 75 years and retired as a Fireman at the US Air Force Academy. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home.
David is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary K. Gonser. He is also survived by his eight children; David Gonser Jr. (Pat), Richard Gonser (Barbara), Marianne Tuminelli, Melissa Painter (Larry), Maureen Clarry (Mark), Donald Gonser (Connie), Michael Gonser, Gary Gonser (Lisa) as well as 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at The Cappadona Funeral Home on December 21st from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on December 23rd at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in David's name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care (www.pikespeakhospice.org).

another brother firefighter has left us. dave was great firefighter and never once backed a way from one of the hottest ! i worked with dave quite a few years befor he retired. allso would like to mention he was a very good mechanic, and worked on many of our cars part time. god speed dave !

Dear Dave & Pat: Carol Christensen told us of the death of your father and we would like to tell you how sorry we are to hear about it. It does make me full of hope to hear that he died at such an advanced age. Hope he got to do all the things in his Bucket List. Sincerely, Bev and Dick Greener
