Of Plum Boro, age 87, on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Beloved husband of Shirley (Hughes) Brinza of 55 years; loving father of Michael (April) Brinza of Penn Hills and the late Dave Brinza; grandfather of Nicole (Jamie) Brinza of Valencia; great-grandfather of Charlotte Jean Brinza; brother of Audrey Ruth (Eugene) Wlahofsky of Forest Hills and Jean Marie Peters of Portage, IN. Preceded in death by brothers, Alfred and Joseph Brinza; and sisters, Roseann Dawson and Marion McWilliams. Richard is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rich was a chemical technician with US Steel Edgar Thompson Works for 11 years, and with Westinghouse Electric for 26 years. After retiring, Rich became a bagger at the Plum Boro Shop'n Save for 16 years. Rich was an avid Pittsburgh Penguin hockey fan and enjoyed Lionel Trains and bird watching. Friends welcome on Friday from 1-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, TURTLE CREEK / MONROEVILLE CHAPEL, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek 412-823-9350. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Joy Church in Plum. Burial with military honors in Twin Valley Cemetery in Delmont. Donations may be made to St. Jude Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
