Don was a lovely person. I knew him in law school, and he was a very good friend, at a time when there was so much stress and pressure all around us. He was so kind and very, very funny. Don was very popular with his classmates. We got to be friends when we were in the law school musical together. It was a parody of A Chorus Line. Don had a big solo part and he had a wonderful voice. My part was much smaller but we had a long scene in the first act where we had to pretend to talk together for what seemed like hours, over and over and over again. So, we made friends! I was 2 years older so I went off to practice in Dallas and Austin, but we kept in touch a bit and I did attend Don's wedding to his son's mom. I am devastated that while I did write from time to time, in response to my last long letter, Don called me to catch up. I was out and missed the call; my husband took a message; and I meant to get back by phone, all these months. (While I knew Don was ill, I had no idea it was so bad.) I will regret this forever, because I did not get to talk to him again. Don was a really nice person, and I am proud to have counted him as a friend. I see that Don was married and is survived by Kelley; my condolences to you and Gavin and the rest of Don's family. I am sorry I did not know of his passing until I saw it just now in the UT Law School Journal. My husband (of 21 years) Dr. Sam Mirrop and I are so very sorry for your loss. Take care. Anyone reading this, please catch up and keep up with your friends and relatives, because time is precious, and I am sorely reminded once again that time with our friends and family (on Earth at least) is finite.

I have many lovely memories of sharing time with the class of '86 on band trips, camp, etc. not as a member, but as a sponsor. Don is a precious part of those. Love and prayers to his family.
