Cathryn Naomi Hollander passed away on January 13, 2014 in Torrance. She was born on December 10, 1921 in Akron, Ohio, to William and Lena Brubaker.
Cathryn attended Akron College, Harbor College, and Cal State Long Beach. She was a very talented artist a wonderful homemaker and wife for 72 years.
Cathryn was a Past-President of the Palols Verdes Artists Association, she also helped in the building of the Rolling Hills Methodist Church. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, also for the Red Cross in Europe. She volunteered for the Head Start Program and also led the children through the Botanical Gardens and taught them how to make bird calls. Cathryn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ohio.
She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Eugene Baxter Hollander; daughter, Susan Willis; sons, Jeffrey and Kneal Hollander; grandchildren, Ian, James, and Fiona Willis, Brett and Amy Hollander; Great-Grandchildren, Maggie, Abby, Andrew, and Elizabeth Willis, Jake and Jeremy Allen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at A. M. Gamby Funeral Home, in Lomita.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made, in Cathryn's memory, to a charity of your choice or to the Peninsula Seniors in Rolling Hills.

Our condolences, Gene and family. We remember fondly the
many times we got together, helping to get the Methodist
Church started, having dinner in your motor home on the

Dear brother Gene, your wife was one of a kind. We feel her loss and constantly thank her for giving us two wonderful nephews and a delightful niece, but most of all a happy brother. Bless you dear lady. We know that you are in the house of The Lord.
