William Cassiday Obituary


CASSIDAY, WILLIAM J.

Age 79, of Montrose died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. The funeral service will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 7, 2014, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm then on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:30 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the VFW or American Legion. William was born November 11, 1934, in Saginaw. He is the son of Earl and Mary (O'Neil) Cassiday. He served in the United States Army from 1957 -1963 spending time in Augsburg, Germany and six months in Beirut, Lebanon. He worked for General Motors for many years and retired in 1990. In his free time he enjoyed dancing, working on classic cars, fishing, riding motorcycles, singing karaoke, and working in his yard. Left to cherish his memory are fiance, Anne McAfee; her children, Rick (Dana) Davis, Dan (Stephanie) Davis, and Linda (Brian) Nelson; grandchildren, Garett Nelson, Shelby Davis, and Shanna Davis; nieces and nephews, Dawn (Paul) Barek, Mark (Diane) Cassiday, Darrin Cassiday, Bob (Penny) Cassiday, Chris Cassiday, Brian (Linda) Cassiday, Cindy (Keith) Martin, Mike (Monika) Cassiday, Dennis (Terina) Cassiday, Jim (Brenda) Ostrom, Nancy Ostrom and Lee Ostrom; many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; three brothers; and nephew.
