MAX L. BLEVINS, SR.
WEAVERVILLE - Max L. Blevins, Sr., age 77, of Beech Community, Weaverville, died at his home Monday, February 17, 2014 after an extended illness.
Mr. Blevins was born August 29, 1936 in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He owned and operated Blevins Insurance Agency and he retired from Blevins Construction Company. He was known for his devotion to his family, sense of humor, and he enjoyed cooking, golfing, fishing, and playing softball. Max was the son of the late Will and Ada Silvers Blevins.
Surviving are his wife, Sonja Mills Blevins; children, Lynn Foster and husband Rob of Asheville, Cathy Ammons of Arden, Lanny Blevins of Weaverville; and Kim Snyder and husband Scott of Louisville, KY; brothers, Charles, Don, Howard and Lewis Blevins; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Weaverville Town Hall Community Room, 30 S. Main St. with Keith Blevins officiating.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville.
Flowers are welcome.
