Leon Earl Draiss Jr.
Elyria – Leon Earl Draiss Jr. 73 of Elyria passed away Monday February 17, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. Leon was born November 11, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a United States Army veteran. Leon worked as a quality assurance analyst for the Department of Defense for 28 years until his retirement.
He was a member of American Legion post #12, and 1st mate for Parker Charter Service. Leon enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and he was a good papa.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Barbara (nee Scerba), daughters Kim (Dwayne) Herbert of Elyria, Barbara (Anthony) Smith of Huron, Kristie (Sean) Reed of Elyria, sisters Doreen Graf of Clearwater, Florida, Sandra (Roy) Nielsen of Elyria, grandchildren Brandee, Darlene, Stephanie, Gregory, Drew, Brent, great-grandchildren Jordan, and Peyton.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leon Sr. and Jean (nee Zedaker).
Family will receive friends 1-4PM Sunday February 23, 2014 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria. 440-322-4626., where funeral services will be held 11AM Monday February 24, 2014.
Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post #1079. Pastor Todd Nye of Southwest Community Baptist Church will officiate. Burial Private.
