Hamer Caleb Mark Hamer, 26-year-old resident of Dublin, Ohio, left this world in peace on Wednesday afternoon, February 26, 2014. Born May 12, 1987 in Rocky Mount, Virginia to Peter H. L. and Deborah K. Hamer, Caleb graduated from Dublin Scioto High School in 2006. Caleb's last days were filled with the presence of family and friends, and these moments are precious gifts we will forever cherish. He was a proud and hard-working tradesman that loved to get his hands dirty as a contractor, landscaper, plumber's apprentice, fuel refinery technician and especially as a scrapper. Building his eclectic collection of salvage brought Caleb great joy, and his remains will be stored in the urn he repurposed to hold loose change until they are scattered around Caleb's favorite areas in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Caleb treasured the world's castaways with a remarkable appreciation for the value in all goods and, what's more, all people. Caleb would give just as generously of his heart and his resources to the downtrodden stranger as he would to his loved ones. He was a loyal and loving father, son, grandson, step-son, brother, step-brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, and just as loyal to his NFL team, the Denver Broncos, supporting them heartily through thick and thin. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Peter B. and Audrey L. Hamer, and his cousin Andrew W. Keenan. He is survived by his son, Caleb M. Hamer, Jr.; mother; father; step-mother, "Mimi" P. Hamer; grandparents, William R. and Irma A. Keenan; siblings, Alison G. Rupert, Joel D. Hamer (Megan J. Trevethan), and Peter "Josh" Hamer (Njoud T. Jweihan); stepbrothers, Ehren D. Koler (Sindhu K. Koler) and Craig A. Koler (Jennifer R. Pirkl); 17 adoring aunts and uncles; 27 beloved cousins; and three precious nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his laughter and kind heart more and more with each passing day. Caleb also leaves behind his best friends, Denrise G. Humrichouser and Sadie M. Cain. The family would like to thank the medical teams at Riverside Methodist Hospital and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for the outstanding care previously provided for Caleb, as well as Caleb's first-grade teacher Mrs. Beth Dillon Hudson, who comforted Caleb in difficult times. Family will receive friends at THE SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME CLINTONVILLE CHAPEL, 4341 N High St. Saturday, March 8 from 1-3 p.m. where memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. A reception will follow at Caleb's church, the Vineyard at Tuttle Crossing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to Caleb Jr.'s education savings fund. Caleb's primary goal in life was to provide a better life for his only son and this mission does not end with his passing. Rather, let us commemorate him by remembering and living these words by Winston Churchill which so aptly describe our Caleb: "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."

Debbie and family
I light this candle in memory of of Caleb. Caleb was a fascinating young man and I thought of him like my own. My heart and sympathy and peace of the Lord be with you all. I see that Caleb's birthday is the day after my son (Maurice). I remember the good times we all had together with our kids playing ball. Sending you hugs during your time of bereavement. I will never forget

To Debbie
I am so sorry and shocked to hear about Caleb's passing. Caleb was like a son to me. (He was always my boy). Be comforted in knowing that he is with the Lord and just being Caleb. I always ask about you all when I see Samuel's parents. So Debbie take care of yourself and the rest of the family. Maybe I will get to see little Caleb one day. If you're back in Rocky Mount get in touch with me.
Love you all.

Dear Debbie, It's Marsha, your old sister-in-law from Minnesota. I have fond memories of the times we spent together in North Carolina. I still have all of the Christmas cards we have exchanged over the years, and now I will cherish them even more. I always thought you had three of the cuties boys around, and I also thought you had it easier than me, who was busy raising three girls! We are all so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what you are going through...I wish I was there to give you a hug, and to cook you a meal. I remember Caleb's killer smile, and lovable personality. T am thankful you have little Caleb, and that you have your faith. May God bring you comfort and love during this difficult time. Marsha Hamer
