Randall F. Briggs Jr.
1929 - 2014 BENNINGTON Randall "Ted" Frank Briggs Jr., age 84, born Dec. 13, 1929, died peacefully at home on Thursday morning, after a short illness. He worked for himself for many years as a Master Plumber and Heating specialist, then later went to work for Ashley-Swift, J.H. Winslow, H.M. Tuttle, and N.E. Air Systems, at different times, in that same capacity. Prior to that, he spent seven years in the US Air Force, during the Korean War, as a sergeant. He put out planes that would crash land at the base as a firefighter. He was also stationed in Bermuda. Later on, during the late 50's and early 60's, he competed in and placed first to fourth in many motorcycle enduros, and took first place at a 250 mile AMA National event in Columbus, Ohio (The Little Burr Run), in 1960, in his division. He also raced in dirt track "scrambles" (today called motocross). Ted was also an avid turkey hunter. He leaves behind a brother, Harry and wife, Nancy, of Pownal, and a sister, Barbara of Bennington; three sons, Mark and wife, Debby, of New Hampshire, Kevin and wife, Susie, of Bennington, and Danny of Bennington; nine grandchildren, Nick, Laura, Tyler, Trever, Rachelle, Tiffany, Ted, Shawn, and Jeffrey; seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Rhyse, Brody, lan, Corbin, Bryson, and Genevieve, who will all miss him. Ted was predeceased by a brother, Lewie Briggs, and three sisters, Marlene Stratton, Janet Burdick, and Patricia Morgan. The family invites all to say good bye. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME, Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 12 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. The family invites all to say good bye. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
