ABERDEEN – Frances Jones Newman, 87, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born March 5, 1927, to Russell Jones and Lucinda Katie Gray Jones in Belmont. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen, where she retired as a seamstress. She was a member of Aberdeen Church of Christ.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Minister Charles Tharp officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Strickland of Aberdeen; one son, George Ross of Pickwick Dam, Tenn.; two sisters, Bobbie Lovett and husband, George,of Baton Rouge, La., and Shirley Jo Drott of Olla, La.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.C. Newman; one grandson, George Edward Ross Jr.; one granddaughter, Shannon Logan; and two brothers, Ed Jones and Billy Joe Jones.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at theTisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
