Ruth Collinson Obituary

ASHEBORO — Mrs. Ruth Kathleen Campbell Collinson went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2014 in Woodland Hill Center at the age of 91.

Mrs. Collinson (Kaye, as she was known by family and friends) was born in Hoke County on Dec. 15, 1922 to the late Daniel James Campbell and Eliza Jane (Jayne) Perkins Campbell.

She is preceded in death by her brother Daniel Campbell, Jr.

Surviving are her sons Michael A. Collinson of Greenville, S.C. and Martin Collinson and his wife Sandra of Asheboro, her daughter Glenda K. Dowless of Leland, sister Mildred Tolar of Red Springs, and three grandchildren: Kevin Collinson of Raleigh, Joshua Collinson of Greenville, S.C., and K. Morgan Collinson of Asheboro.

She is also survived by her two great-granddaughters McKenna Collinson and Alexis Collinson.

Kaye and her former husband Glenn Collinson (deceased) began their lives together shortly after World War II in Miami, Fla. Hard work and determination through the years brought Kaye to Wagram in Scotland County; she would call Wagram her home for the majority of her adult life. She was a faithful member of Montpelier Presbyterian Church and a dedicated employee of the Scotland County Inspection Department.

Upon her retirement, Kaye traveled worldwide. She enjoyed many successes in the Senior Citizens State Games and V.F.W Auxiliary. Kaye lived her final years with her youngest son Marty and his wife Sandy.

Heaven has gained an angel of immeasurable faith and worth and we here on earth have lost a mother, a friend and an outstanding human being.

Visitation will be between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel in Raeford.

The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Raeford Cemetery.

My sympathy is extended to this family. Mike and I were in school together in younger years. My own mom is 94, and I can understand what a loss you are experiencing. May God bless all of you.
