YORK Phyllis M. Stauffer, 84, formerly of Mt. Pisgah died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Broad-more Senior Living. Phyllis was the devoted and loving wife of Richard H. Stauffer for 55 years prior to his death in July 2005. She was born March 2, 1930 in Freysville to the late John and Pansy (Blouse) Rexroth. Phyllis had a heart of compassion and a word of encouragement for all she came in contact. She was a very devout Christian and a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Freysville, its Sunday School and Women of the Evangelical Church of America. Phyllis was a member of Historic Wrightsville. She was a 1950 graduate of Red Lion High School and for several years worked at the Five and Dime in Red Lion. Phyllis was known for her faschnats and homemade bread. She loved receiving and writing letters. Her grandchildren received a letter weekly from "Mamal" while each attended college. Although she never traveled, she enjoyed visiting many places in the post cards sent to her by her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Sonia Flinchbaugh and husband Ritchie of Hellam; a son, R. Eugene Stauffer and wife Donna of York; five grandchildren, Michael Flinchbaugh and wife Katie of Hellam, Andrew Flinchbaugh and wife Katie of Hellam, Julie Flinchbaugh of York and fiance Travis Keene of Mt. Joy, Kelly Stauffer Nesbitt and husband Doug of Holtwood, Amy Stauffer and fiance Aaron Jewitt, both of Valencia; three great-grandchildren, Leah, Annette and Eli who were the light of her life. The oldest of six children, Phyllis is survived by five brothers, Richard Rexroth and wife Zoe of Mount Wolf, Joseph "Joe" Rexroth and wife Suzy of Mifflintown, Jay Rexroth and wife Peggy of Elizabethtown, Dale Rexroth and wife Linda of Effingham, SC and John Lee Rexroth and wife Doris of Felton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Freysville, 2650 Freysville Road Red Lion with her pastor, Rev. Paul Frank officiating. Burial will be in Canadochly Cemetery. A viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. For those that would prefer to give a donation, contributions may be made to Penn State Children's Hospital P.O. She was a good cook and a good baker. I liked all the food she made. She was my favorite and only aunt. She always tried to make you feel positive, by telling me to always think positive, for all this she will always have a special place in my heart.

I am so sorry to learn of Phyllis' passing and extend my thoughts and prayers to the family. Phyllis was surely a wonderful person and will be certainly missed. She was most special to my late mother, her Aunt Helen.
