SHELBY - Tenna Marcella Leach Adams, 59, of 6009 Deep Green Valley Drive, was born on March 16, 1955, in Cleveland County, to the late Lawyer Alexander Moore and the late Lillian Sara Jane Davidson Leach. She departed this life on June 17, 2014, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, after battling cancer.
A 1973 graduate of King's Mountain High School, Tenna earned an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice Technology in 2007 from Cleveland Community College in Shelby. She was most recently employed by Cleveland County School System as a substitute teacher for nine years. Hoechst Celanese in Shelby also employed her for eight years as a spinning operator. One of her very first employers was Oxford Mills, which later became Clevemont Mills in Kings Mountain, where she worked for 20 years as an inspector.
Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church in Grover was where Tenna was first introduced to Christ. She joined there and sang on the Mixed Choir and served as a delegate for the annual conferences. Tenna later moved her membership to Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Shelby. While there, she also sang on the choir and supported the church faithfully until her health declined.
In addition to her parents, Tenna was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Crocker Williams; and her brother, Donald O'Neal Leach.
Tenna leaves precious memories to her beloved family: one son, Derrick ReShawn Adams of Shelby; one daughter, Tangelia Carissa Adams of Owings Mills, Md.; three sisters and three brothers, Goldie Leach Russell (Gary) and James Leach Jr. (Mattie), both of Kings Mountain, Nancy Davis Julien (Orlando) of New Rochelle, N.Y., Bobby Leach Sr. (Jacquelyn) of Shelby, Brenda S. Williams (Clarke) of Baltimore, Md., and John Wayne Leach (Janet) of Shelby; also one godmother, Rev. Rebecca Bell (Roy Jr.) of Grover; a best friend like a sister, Rachel Reid (Herbert) of Grover; two godsons, Chad Reid of King's Mountain and "CJ" Reid of Grover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To the Leach/Adams Family. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I had no idea about Miss Tenna, it was a surprise to learn that she had passed away. I've known Ms Tenna since I was a little girl when she worked at Fiber Ind. with my parents, and she bowled with my mom. Then our paths crossed again when I began to work at Clevemont Mills. Ms. Tenna was always nice to me and my sister, and she always had a Big Bright Smile that I will never forget. Family just know that she's in a better place, and God has placed another flower in his garden.
May God comfort you in your time of sorrow.
