I was Dr. Jewett's administrative assistant at the East Tennessee State University Medical School during its infancy. We worked together with a host of other reprobates and rebels in an effort to get the school off the ground. No one with any sense would have taken on the task. Today there is much to show at ETSU for that little band of dreamers who were willing to think, work and live outside the box. God bless us one and all. Harry Williams 423.773.3382.

Bob and I graduated from high school together and shared a room at U of M for one year. I subsequently transferred to another university and we lost touch. We played chess at his home in Livonia, Mich during high school. Bob has been on my mind the last several months. I Googled Emory which led to the obit. I'm sure he made a difference in many lives.

I will dearly miss "Uncle Bob." He always had a wonderfully wry sense of humor - I enjoyed emailing with him. I also appreciated how much he thought of my two girls as part of his family. He was a very bright, but also very kind man. I'm grateful I got to know him. With deepest sympathy, Rebecca Patterson

It was such fun when Bob entered our very small family as my late husband Jim's stepbrother about 45 years ago -- our two little children finally had an uncle and we all looked forward to his visits!! He has been there for all of us through the years and completed our family. It is so sad to know he is no longer at the other end of the phone! I had fun visiting with him every few weeks and catching up with his life and his good Gainesville friendships. He will definitely be missed. Betty Patterson
