Cecil "Chief" Bennett
Marysville
Cecil William Bennett, 97, of Marysville died Sunday, July 13, 2014.
He was born March 30, 1917 in Petersburg, North Dakota to the late Vernal and Anna Bennett. He married Alice L. Beales on January 6, 1944. She preceded him in death on July 1, 1997.
Mr. Bennett served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also served in the Naval Reserves. Following the war, he was employed with Detroit Edison where he retired after 25 years of service. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary L. Simmons; granddaughter, Kimberly J. (Eric) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, William B. and Samantha A. Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons and four siblings.
Visiting will be from 2-5 and 7-9 pm Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the funeral home. Reverend Barbara Welbaum will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
Pallbearers will be James Bennett, Eric Mitchell, Carl Pearson, Jay Schultz, Matt Martin and Dennis Hamann.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or Marysville United Methodist Church.
