Wallenfang, Merlin J.
Merlin J. Wallenfang, 84, Green Bay, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 after a short illness. He was born April 4, 1930 in Green Bay to the late Adam and Emma (Bolssen) Wallenfang. Merlin served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War where he earned the Bronze Star for his valor. He was proud to have gone on the Honor Flight in May. On October 30, 1954, he married Cleo Cornell at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2004. Merlin had retired from James River after working there for 37 years. Merlin loved to go for drives and "pop in' for visits. He enjoyed spending time with his family, always ready to bring a treat for the grandchildren.
Merlin is survived by his children and their spouses; his daughter, Teri and her husband, Robert "Kirby" Tassoul and their son, Connor; his son, Tim and his wife, Mary and their children, Adam (John), Emily, Zachery and Jacob; his daughter, TinaWallenfang and her daughters, Chloe and Olivia; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Marge Wallenfang.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo; his parents, and a sister, Evelyn.
Friends may call at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray Street, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev.
