Mary J. Hannah
Canton
On Thursday, September 15, 2016, Mrs. Mary J. Hannah of Canton, MS, passed away peacefully at her home. Mrs. Hannah was born on February 11, 1926, in Greene County, Alabama. She was raised in Farmhaven, MS and was a resident of Canton, MS for the last 58 years of her life.
Mrs. Hannah was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, as well, as a successful business woman. "Ms. Mary", as she was known by many, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canton. Before her health declined, she was active in the Homemakers, the Garden Club, Lions Club International and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was well known for her love of flower gardening, especially her roses.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Hannah who passed away in 1990; her sons, Charles W. "Chuck" Baber and Earnest D. Hannah. Mrs. Hannah is survived by her sons, Larry B. Hannah of Canton and Thomas H. Hannah of Kiln. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a large loving family including her siblings, William Jones of Hazlehurst, Edgar Jones of Madison, and Dorothy Pearson of Canton.
Visitation wias held at Breeland's Funeral Home in Canton on Friday, September 16th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 17th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Services will also be held at Breeland's Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services to follow afterward.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Canton, for the Natchez Children's Home.
